At Lords we respect your privacy and your address details are kept private and will never be available to another party. If your card details are processed on-line, Lords representatives do not have access to those details because your transaction is processed securely through Protx. Your card details are never downloaded to our computers which ensures premium security on your behalf.

We endeavour to despatch our orders from stock we carry at our shop by post the same day if ordered before 12 pm. Following day thereafter. We will contact you if we can’t meet this because of stock shortages.

Please see our delivery info below for our areas of business. We do not supply overseas at this time.

These terms will apply to all your purchases of Products, whether you are ordering online, by telephone or by mail. Please read this document carefully after printing it off or downloading it (if you are using the Internet) before placing your order.

We may change these terms from time to time. Please check them before you make another purchase.


If the Products which you purchase from us are faulty you should notify us in writing, email or telephone within 12 months of delivery (or 36 months in the case of a NEW Brother machine). This warranty does not apply to Software, which is dealt with below and does not affect your statutory rights.

The warranty above does not apply to faults which have been caused by mis-use and/or neglect of the goods or by accidents caused while the Products are in your possession. Machines are covered for normal domestic use only as per the manufacturer's warranty card supplied and should be adequately serviced and maintained.

RETURNS: Applying solely to products purchased online, by telephone or mail-order.


Where you return FAULTY Products we will pay for the delivery of any repaired or replacement Products to you and will, where you have returned Products to us, reimburse your reasonable postage costs in returning the Products. We will not be liable for any delivery costs where you are not entitled to return the Products to us under these conditions or by law. Software, Memory Cards, Design CDs must be unopened and any security seals and/or shrink-wrap must be intact. Please read our 14-day money back guarantee below.

You will need to call us on 01254 389171 for authorisation to return the Products.


Important: Please keep your packaging in case your machine needs to be returned for repair. You will be liable for any damage caused by poor packaging in transit.

Lords Sewing prefer to demonstrate machines and give a personal quality service to customers at Oswaldtwistle Mills. For those who purchase new Brother machines by post:

During the warranty period of three years Brother machines can be taken to any authorised repair centre in the UK for guarantee repair (parts and labour) or returned to ourselves, where we will arrange collection, repair and return. This covers problems relating to faulty components and/or poor workmanship and providing that the machine has been used for domestic purposes.

Many issues can be overcome by contacting us and working through them on the telephone, in any event please call us if you are experiencing problems.

What is not covered by warranty: Consumable items such as: needles, needle threaders, bobbins, light bulbs, belts, loopers, blades etc – which are stated on the manufacturers guarantee document.

Most problems are down to user error or misunderstanding of the machine functions and uses. We are very knowledgeable about our products and can help you overcome issues over the phone. Our line is not a premium number and our free help and advice is always available.

14-DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE: If you wish to cancel your order or return the products you must let us know as soon as possible by phone on 01254 389171 or email to authorise a return. Products must be returned within 14 days for us to enable a speedy refund.

With the exception of items that were delivered and found to be damaged or faulty, products being returned for a refund must be unused and unopened. They must also be returned in their original packaging and in new condition to our address above.

Please note that the customer will be responsible for the costs of returning the Products to us unless we delivered the items to you in error or the Products are faulty. For your protection, we recommend that a recorded delivery service is used and adequate insurance for the Product value.

Lords will adjust the amount refunded to recover reasonable costs for replacing any items found to be missing from orders that have been returned or for damage suffered in transit or negligence. It is up to the customer to check that all items that were included in the original order are not missing before being parcelled up and returned. This includes any additional products supplied at no charge with your order.

Software (and its use) will be subject to the terms of the manufacturer’s licence contained within the software itself (and accessed upon loading) or within or upon the packaging of the software. Such licence will state the extent of the manufacturer’s liability for the software. Returns cannot be made for software that has been installed or security seals broken unless the product has manufacturer faults.


All prices are in £ sterling and inclusive of VAT (except books and magazines which are zero rated). There is a charge for postage and packing of £2.95 for all orders under a total value of £30. During our Harrogate Alternative Sale (4-days to coincide with Harrogate Knitting and Stitching Show in November) a £2.95 charge applies to all orders irrespective of value.


Our online system is fully secure and operated in accordance with Streamline and Sagepay payment gateway. Your card details are not downloaded to any computer at our premises and are not seen by any representative of Lords Sew-Knit Centre. Goods must be paid for prior to their despatch to you. We accept most credit and debit cards though not American Express. Where a refund is to be made this will be applied back through the same payment system.


We try to carry good stocks but sometimes items are temporarily unavailable. We would like to contact you if delays are likely so please include your telephone number when ordering.

If we cannot fulfil your order we will contact you by telephone or email and offer an approximate delivery date or a refund.


Lords supply machines from stock to personal callers and mail order. Machines valued below £300 are not available in the Scottish Highlands. We currently do not supply machines to Scottish Islands and Northern Ireland. Delivery is usually by overnight carrier Next Working Days if ordered before noon. Some models are delivered direct from Brother and may take 48-hours (working day).

Accessories and Consumables:

We will attempt to send out your order on the same day if received by us before 12 pm. Small, letter-size packets are sent First Class and should arrive within 1-2 days. Heavier items are via Parcel Post or Independent Carrier and normally take 1-4 working days. Outlying areas need to allow for slightly longer delivery times. Our service at this time covers addresses with a UK Postcode only.

Horn Cabinets:

Free delivery by Horn themselves to most addresses. Please see details on every cabinet’s info page when browsing.


Ownership of the goods and the risk for damage to the goods will pass to you upon delivery.


Where we have put drawings, photographs, illustrations, specifications, and the like in sales literature, on web pages or other documentation, we believe they are accurate. However, changes can occur and we reserve the right not to be held responsible for errors or omissions displayed on product price or details on our website. Please be aware that colours can be very inaccurate both in print and on screen. Threads in particular are likely to be different and you will need to use an alternative means for colour-matching.


Under the United Kingdom’s Distance Selling Regulations, you have the right to cancel the Contract for the purchase of any of the goods within 7 working days of delivery. A working day is any day other than weekends and bank or other public holidays. Lords will be happy to exchange the goods or provide you with a full refund during the 14-day period as detailed under RETURNS above. This right of return is in addition to any other rights, warranties or conditions available to you.
